Democratization of AI needs the democratization of AI tooling.

AI models are without a doubt important but so is the tooling that enables these models for all users. If OSS models can only be utilized by a handful of cloud providers or closed sourced tools, is AI truly democratized?

Drip’s core mission is to advance and democratize visual AI tooling by iterating and improving on ComfyUI. We will work with OSS model builders, and organize community efforts to efficiently build OSS tooling for all.

The LLM space is a great predictor for the future of the visual AI space. In the LLM space, we have seen the flourish of incredible OSS tooling (LangChain, Ollama) alongside OSS models (Mistral, Llama).

Lastly, there has been huge amount of turbulence for Stability.ai, the open source champion of the visual models. We have been huge fans of Stability.ai, Emad, and their philosophy behind open democratized AI, so it's truly unfortunate to see their current situation.

However, to quote one redditor’s comment about the news at Stability: “the battle may be over but the war goes on”. If anything, these setbacks make us even more enthusiastic and more aware about the need pushing on the democratization of AI and AI tools. Because there is no free lunch in the world of open source; democratization won't happen on its own. Every single one of us needs to fight for it.
